2nd Workshop of the
European Wireworm Research Network

We are delighted to announce that the 2nd Workshop of the European Wireworm Research Network will be held on October 9, 2025, Online.
The Workshop will focus on novel developments in all aspects of crop protection against wireworm pests.
The program will include two invited Keynote speakers :

IPM strategies against wireworms in Europe: what can be implemented immediately and knowledge gaps
Lorenzo Furlan
Director of Innovation and experimentation, Veneto Agricoltura, Italy

Implementing IPM for wireworm management in potatoes, recent experience in the U.K.
Martyn Cox
Blackthorn Arable LTD, UK
There will be four sessions with submitted papers related to the following subjects with time allocated for general discussions at the end of each session:

Session 1
Biology, ecology, monitoring, risk assessments and modeling for pest species

Session 2
Novel control methods
-
Session 3
Technical/economic impact assessments, DSS and national action plans

Session 4
Varietal assessments, mechanisms, and disease complexes/interactions
Call for abstracts
Those who wish to present at the workshop are invited to submit an electronic abstract on the European Wireworm Research Network (EWRN) website no later than 31st May 2025.

Instructions for
oral and poster presentations
Oral presentations
Each oral presentation is strictly limited to 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion.
Oral presentations must be in English.
The organising committee (OC) will be responsible for organisation of the presentations and reviews of the abstracts.
Submit your PowerPoint presentation by 25th September for it to be considered for the dedicated session of the workshop.
Poster presentations
Posters presenters will be allocated 5 minutes at the end of the respective sessions to present and discuss their work.
Poster presentations should be in English.
The maximum of three slides: Title, authors' names and affiliation should be included on the first slide.
The poster should consist of objectives, methods, results and discussion. It should be clear, simple and self-explanatory: posters must be understandable in the absence of the author.
All figures and tables must have headings, labelled axes and legends. Lettering should be legible.
Submit your Poster by 25th September for it to be considered for the dedicated session of the workshop.
